Pediatric Pulmonology

Pediatric Pulmonologists are medical doctors. The word pediatric means “The Healer of Children” whereas pulmonology is comes under medical field. Pulmonology focuses on the heath of respiratory system, respiratory muscles which addresses disorders of lungs and airways. There services also include pulmonary function testing and flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FFB). Basically, patients come to see pediatric pulmonologists to determine if their child's wheezing is asthma or something else. Pediatric Pulmonologists often treat the children with following conditions :

•           Difficulty breathing

•           Recurring pneumonia (infection of the lungs)

•           Asthma (chronic inflammation of the airways)

•           Cystic fibrosis (a genetic disease with pulmonary and nutritional symptoms)

•           Apnea (when a child’s breathing stops for a prolonged time)

•           Chronic lung disease in premature infants

•           Noisy breathing

•           Conditions that require special equipment to monitor and help with breathing at home

A pediatric pulmonologist has the experience and qualifications to treat the child, has breathing problems, or a problem with his or her lungs. They diagnose, treat, and manage children from birth to 21 years old with breathing and lung diseases.
